David Moyes is unable to call upon the England international again this season after the Everton No.18 suffered a broken foot, but the Toffees must still pay his wages and cannot send him back to Manchester City.

A £50m option to buy was agreed between Everton and Manchester City back in July when the initial loan was arranged, which now seems an even steeper fee to pay for the 30-year-old.

Sam Allardyce has now shared what he thinks will happen with Jack Grealish when speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.

Sam Allardyce doubts Everton will keep Jack Grealish around

There are rumours Everton would still take the England international if a move can be arranged for £25m – but Allardyce doubts the Toffees are going to secure a permanent deal.

The former Everton boss said: “I don’t think they’re going to sign him. I think they have already made that decision, do you know what I mean?”

The Friedkin Group are expected to spend heavily this summer and overhaul the squad.

Therefore, a move for Grealish, who makes £300,000-a-week at Manchester City and could cost up to £50m, does not seem sensible when Moyes still has a lack of depth in both full-back positions and in the striker department.

There is also a question mark over whether the Aston Villa academy graduate will be the same player as he was before he broke his foot.

So, unless Manchester City terminate his deal – like Chelsea recently did with Raheem Sterling – we cannot see a permanent move materialising.

Jack Grealish situation might prove to be a blessing in disguise after Tyrique George arrival

After Everton learned that Grealish would miss the rest of the season, the Toffees moved to sign Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea – crucially negotiating an option to buy this summer should the England U21 international do well.

The 19-year-old is 11 years younger than Grealish, and represents the type of profile Everton should be pursuing to contribute to a squad overhaul, rather than ageing, expensive options like the Manchester City loanee.

Deadline day is now done… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬

If George ends up enjoying a superb second half of the season and Everton take him on a permanent basis, it gives Moyes a long-term option he can potentially develop into a superstar.

So, the injury to Grealish could well prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Toffees, as devastating a blow as it was at the time.
