There are plenty of players still available to sign for free following the winter transfer deadline

Everton could still add to their new recruits this season despite the winter transfer window slamming shut on Monday. The Toffees have the option of browsing the free agent market for extra reinforcements to take them through to the end of the campaign.

Everton completed the loan signing of Tyrique George from Chelsea on Deadline Day to pad out their options across the frontline. The 19-year-old plays primarily on the left, which will be a boost for David Moyes in the absence of the injured Jack Grealish.

We’ve listed X players currently available to sign for free who Everton could consider signing over the coming days and weeks.

Former England internationals available to sign for free

The latter is one of the more recent free agents, having left Chelsea last week. The winger is not short of options to consider but he would certainly add even more depth to Moyes’ front three. As a tried and tested goal-scorer, Sterling just needs the regular minutes to get himself back up and running again.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a former Liverpool player but the Blues have been more open to talent from the other side of the city recently. They were very interested in Ben Doak over the summer, for example. The Champions League and Premier League winner is said to be eager to move back to England’s top flight.

Jesse Lingard has not played in England since 2023 when he was at Nottingham Forest. The midfielder is another experienced and senior player who would be a solid option to have in rotation.

Premier League stars who are currently free agents

The Athletic has reported that Everton’s focus at the start of the transfer window was to bring in new right-back and striker options. With that in mind, the Toffees could turn their attention to Serge Aurier, who has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt.

After winning 11 trophies with Paris Saint-Germain, the Ivorian spent four years with Tottenham Hotspur. Aurier also spent time with Nottingham Forest, so he would be a good option to consider at right-back.

As for options to lead the Everton attack, the likes of Divock Origi and Michail Antonio are both available to join new clubs for free. The latter left West Ham last June and has been keeping his fitness up by training with Leicester City. He might be 35 but his experience would make a good option to have on the bench in case of injury setbacks.

Origi is a more unlikely option, as he has not played a competitive game of football since 2024. However, his pedigree as a Premier League and Champions League winner with Liverpool and his clutch goal-scoring performances are hard to ignore.
