Manchester United had a quiet deadline day, but a deal was announced for youngster Sekou Kone to go on loan.
Sekou Kone is extremely highly rated at Manchester United, but it was internally decided at Carrington that it would be best for the 20-year-old midfielder to go and gather some senior experience.
It was confirmed on Tuesday morning that Kone has joined FC Lausanne-Sport, United’s sister team who compete in the Swiss Super League.

Across January, Kone was on trial at Lausanne and the Swiss side have now secured his services on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.
It seems it has not taken Kone long to make a positive impression at his new club.

Lausanne coaches ‘blown away’ by Sekou Kone
According to the Daily Mail, Lausanne are “over the moon” to have finally completed a deal for Kone.
The report adds that “Coaches are understood to have been blown away by his technical level on the ball” and that there is “a real excitement in the building at his ball-winning ability”.

United and Lausanne view Kone’s loan deal as a “litmus test” for their new relationship, with both clubs currently tied into a multi-club model.
Kone is not the first promising United star to head in their direction as Enzo Kana-Biyik is also on loan at Lausanne.
Sekou Kone can fight for Man United spot
Over the next four months, Kone will hopefully get regular minutes and can prove to staff back at Carrington that he is ready to play for United.
Because of his ability in midfield, Kone can be an alternative to Carlos Baleba, especially as the Brighton star has struggled for form this season.

United are planning to overhaul their midfield department in 2026, but if Kone can impress at Lausanne, then it could end up saving Ineos millions on a high-profile midfield signing.
With Casemiro’s exit now confirmed, Kone will know that there are places up for grabs in the first-team squad when he returns in the summer.
