Cristiano Ronaldo's former teammate responds when asked if superstar forward would consider Manchester United return

Cristiano Ronaldo's former Manchester United teammate Wes Brown has responded whether the Portuguese superstar would consider a third spell at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy at Al-Nassr and now considering his future due to concerns over the financial backing the club is receiving from Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The 40-year-old was notably missing from Al-Nassr's Saudi Pro League game win over Al Riyadh on Monday. Reports suggest that Ronaldo was particularly angry that league leaders Al-Hilal signed Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad - a move the forward feels has given the Blue Waves a boost in the title race.

Amid the saga, further reports have claimed Ronaldo is considering leaving Al-Nassr in the summer, with a return to Manchester United or a move to MLS considered potential options.

Speaking to BettingLounge, Brown conceded that Ronaldo is not happy at Al-Nassr but ruled out a third stint at Manchester United for the forward outright. He however, suggested that a move to MLS or a return to Portugal is possible, believing the five-time Ballon d’Or winners has a lot of options.

"He’s not happy but would Cristiano Ronaldo come back to Manchester United for a third go? I would say no," Brown said. "I can't see how that could happen. A move to MLS? Maybe. Maybe he goes back to Portugal and plays there. I’m sure he will still have so many options.

"The main thing is that he still wants to play in the World Cup and we would have to keep playing and making sure he keeps himself fit to do that. It’s a shock to everyone to see Ronaldo on strike but I honestly think it will get resolved. We’ll have to wait and see where it goes from here."

Ronaldo has played across two different stints at United. His first throphy-laden spell came between 2003 and 2009. He returned to the club in 2021 and departed on a sour note late in 2022 following an explosive interview.
