It seems Deadline Day could actually have thrown up quite the surprise for West Ham United fans in the end.
Though there was late drama over whether Axel Disasi would actually sign for West Ham United on loan from Chelsea, a late deal was eventually done for the Frenchman.
By the time he had arrived, it’d be fair to say that many supporters were bored of the mini-saga. Disasi’s signing, while potentially important, was hardly a surprise.

Deadline day is perhaps not what it used to be in terms of a spectacle, but strange things still do happen.
A particularly left-field move could well have come off for one Max Kilman.
Crystal Palace made calls to sign Max Kilman from West Ham
Indeed, Crystal Palace were linked with a move for Kilman, who has struggled to look anything like worth the £40million West Ham paid to sign him from Wolves in the summer of 2024.
The 28-year-old is something of a lightning rod for criticism at times and it’s important to note that not many West Ham defenders have covered themselves in glory either.

Still, such have been Kilman’s struggles, the idea of another Premier League club signing him did seem somewhat strange.
Initially, it was claimed that a move for Kilman was only discussed behind the scenes and that a move was unlikely to progress.
However, according to The Daily Mail, a call “went out” to West Ham over a move for Kilman but it was, as they, “in vain.”
It’s not too long ago that Axel Disasi snubbed West Ham – so what has changed? 👀
To be fair, it won’t matter if he keeps us up 😂

Max Kilman now fights on at West Ham United after seeing chance to start dwindle even further
Kilman was already out of the first team picture under Nuno Espirito Santo, with Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos the starting centre backs these days.
The last time Kilman started a game in the Premier League was the defeat against Wolves last month. He did start against QPR later that month but has generally been dropped in favour of the aforementioned duo.

Though not clearly out of the fold, not even Todibo’s red card against Chelsea could bring him back into the starting lineup on Saturday at Burnley now that Disasi has signed.
Kilman has quite the fight on his hands if he’s going to get back into the side in the final 14 games of the season.
