Setting the scene

Frank Lampard back as manger replacing Graham Potter as Interim Manager for Chelsea and Wolves looking to extend their lead over the relegation zone.

First Half

Wolves start the game in front of a raucous crowd at Molineux with plenty of early exchanges with 12 corners in the first 25 minutes of the game with no real danger of any action.

Then we have our first goal of the game come from Wolves from Nunes for his first goal for the club when Podence floats a cross into the box with Costa flicks on only for Koulibaly to clear it only as far as Nunes on the right side of the box lets the ball bounce and hits the half volley into the far top corner of the net past Kepa in the Chelsea goal what a goal we have seen.

It took till near to half time for Chelsea to test Sa where a low drive went straight at him and the half time whistle comes where Chelsea has not created much in this half of football and Wolves clearly on top of this game.

Half Time

Wolves 1 Chelsea 0

Second Half

Chelsea starts this half of the game with more intent with Wolves been more compact and still look for counter attacks movements when they can.

Numerous substitutes in the game seemed to have ruined the flow of this game with not much chances for both sides.

Late on into the game with the final whistle approaching Chelsea had another fantastic opportunity to get an equaliser when Aubameyang had his shot blocked by Dawson great defending when you need it and Chilwell fires wide, also crosses in where no connects to it.

Conclusion

Added time in added time Chelsea apply one last push towards the goal when Chilwell gets in a decent cross which flashes across the Wolves goal with no one there for the last touch.

Wolves end the game 4 points clear of the drop zone and move to 12th place on the league and Chelsea stay 11th still on a winless run.

Setting the scene

This game played behind closed doors during the COVID-19 restrictions and Wolves without key striker Raul Jimenez who had a nasty injury earlier in the season.

First Half

The game starts cagey for both sides with a low tempo start with not quality happening in the final third in both ends of the goal.

Chelsea created the first chance of the match when Pulisic beats Semedo and produces a cross for Werner who could not connect to the cross so close for the opening goal of the game.

The first big chance of the game came from Giroud when he headed over from 6 yards out after left unmarked by the Wolves defence after a corner from Chilwell.

With the game near to half time Zouma has a great chance of the opening when he heads against the crossbar after a Mount corner.

Injury time of the first half Wolves have a chance from Neto who hits a long-range volley towards goal saved by Mendy in the Chelsea goal.

This was not a particularly good first half for both sides with not much in terms of clear-cut chances.

Half Time

Wolves 0 Chelsea 0

Second Half

Chelsea starts the second half of the game on the front foot where they get the opening goal of the game when Chilwell puts in a cross from the left-hand side to find Giroud who volleys his shot towards the goal towards Patricio who gets a hand to it but the ball creeps over the line which was confirmed by goal line technology for his 7th goal in many games.

Wolves react to going behind in the game with more purpose where Silva gets the ball in the net after a Neto pass only to be offside.

With Wolves carrying on the pressure in the game got the equaliser in the game with a moment of quality when Podence goes past Chilwell & James in the box fires a deflected shot past Mendy but there might have been a little controversy in the lead up when corner given to Wolves instead of a goal kick to Chelsea as it hit a Wolves player.

Traore comes into the game from the substitutes bench to add more pace into the counter attacking play.

There was drama to come in the game when Wolves given a penalty on the field after Neto brought down by James in the box only for VAR to overturn it and say no contact decision reversed and sides are still level.

Both sides still at it near the end where Wolves looks dangerous on the counter attacking front and Chelsea push for a winner leaving gaps in there play.

Late on in the game Neto looks like he has won it for Wolves in stoppage time after a Chelsea attack breaks down and Counter on the goal beating defenders with a low finish into the far corner for what could be the winner of the game.

Conclusion

In the last few seconds of the game Wolves nearly got a third goal from Neto again but Mendy denied him this time and then final whistle comes, and Wolves hold on for the win.
