Shortly after Ajax announced the signing of Maher Carrizo, the 19-year-old Argentinian winger sang the praises of Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
Lisandro Martinez has become a key player at Manchester United since joining from Ajax in a deal worth £57 million.
The transfer saw the Argentine centre-back reunite with former United manager Erik ten Hag, who similarly ditched Amsterdam for Manchester.

Arriving with the nickname ‘The Butcher’, Martinez was criticised early on over his height (1.75m), but that hasn’t been an issue for the technically gifted defensive warrior.
Martinez remains a key player under Michael Carrick, starring in the ongoing win streak of three matches, despite suffering major injury setbacks in previous seasons.
After winning the World Cup with Argentina in 2022, Martinez became an inspiration for other South American players moving to Europe to establish themselves.

Maher Carrizo responds to Lisandro Martinez message after joining Ajax
Maher Carrizo is the latest player to join Ajax, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract following a £6 million transfer from Velez Sarsfield.

The 19-year-old moved to Europe after starting his professional career in Argentina, debuting as an 18-year-old and going on to score 11 goals as well as registering three assists in 52 appearances.
Carrizo played a key role for the Buenos Aires outfit as they won the league, Supercopa Argentina and Supercopa Internacional in 2024.
To welcome Carrizo to Amsterdam, Ajax showed him a message from United star Martinez, which led to an excited reaction from the Argentine starlet.
Carrizo said: “I am so grateful.
“His message makes me happy. It gives me the confidence to give everything for this club.
“A lot of thanks to Lisandro. I hope to meet him soon. Many thanks for his video.”
When asked if the video from Martinez made him feel emotional, Carrizo added: “For sure, he is an amazing player. I often speak about him to my brother, who is also a huge football fan.
“And to the rest of my family. That he is a beast on the pitch. I love his playing style. I love how he goes all in.
“It makes me emotional because I didn’t expect this. Many thanks to him and I hope to meet him soon.”

Carrizo enjoyed his official presentation on Tuesday as a new player for Ajax.
It was a big occasion for the youngster and Martinez’s warm message is something he will never forget.
Martinez said: “Congratulations on this great step in your career, it will undoubtedly be a turning point.
“Ajax is a football school and will provide you with the tools to grow as a footballer and as a person.
“Very happy that there is another Argentine at Ajax.”
