Leeds United
The January window has ended and Leeds United fans will be disappointed with how the transfer window went. It started with so much optimism but ended poorly as the 49ers once again missed out on key targets.
Leeds signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan till the end of the season, adding a much needed creative player in attack. The club also lost Jack Harrison who left to Italy on loan. However, the main target of the window was Jorgen Strand Larsen, ended up joining another club. Leeds had a bid on the table, but Crystal Palace wanted more. Ultimately, the clubs owners wanted a deal that would see them pay the fee in the summer due to PSR, but Palace wanted the cash up front.

Graham Smyth wants to see return of Leeds United man
So Leeds will continue their fight for survival with just one addition to the first team. Fortunately for Daniel Farke, he will get one of his summer signings back to the pitch soon. Sean Longstaff returned to action last month but is yet make a full start. Graham Smyth thinks Longstaff’s return to the lineup would be a huge boost to the team:
“I really am very keen to see Longstaff unleashed for this one.” Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road podcast.
“I want to see the Longstaff that played against Newcastle at home, that’s what I want, the one that just got about the pitch smashing people, reading passes, keeping Leeds on the front foot… He’s a Premier League player with Premier League quality and experience, and in this kind of atmosphere with what’s on the line, I think he’d be a very handy man on the pitch to keep everyone on it and to just calm people in moments and remind them that they’re good enough.”
Sean Longstaff will be a welcomed return
Early in the season, when Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff were in the middle of the park, Leeds were a really productive team. The former Newcastle man provides legs and most importantly wins duels on and off the ball. He was a great part of the team, and even though the Whites went on a run without him, his presence was often missing. Hopefully his return to the firs team will be the exact spark the club needs to continue their fight for survival. Most importantly, Daniel Farke gets a key player back in the lineup.
