Daniel Farke dealt catastrophic injury blow as £17m Leeds United ace ruled out of crucial…

Leeds United news

Leeds United will be hoping to bounce back this week after their surprising loss to Arsenal last Saturday. No one expected them to pick up a win against the league leaders, but that kind of result at Elland Road raised eyebrows.

Mikel Arteta’s men put four goals past the home side, who had no response when the two teams faced on Saturday. Going into the match the Whites had lost just two games in their last 11 matches in all competitions. Fans were expecting a contest, but Daniel Farke’s side were blown away on the day.

Daniel Farke reveals Leeds United injury news ahead of Friday night

Ahead of the game, Leeds United have some injury news that Farke disclosed in the pre-match press conference. The German revealed that Anton Stach will miss the game on Friday night:

”Only negative news is Anton Stach is struggling with hip problems, likely to miss the game on Friday and the Chelsea game.

”Not good news for him because he’s obviously an important player for us. Probably being out for 10-14 days is what the doctor says.”

On the bright side for the Whites, Jaka Bijol and James Justin could be ruled fit enough to play against Forest, while Dan James is close to a return to the first team.

”Jaka Bijol has been back in team training, we have to see how his body reacts but definitely positive for us.

”Also James Justin back in team training, thank God it was just a bruise and not a broken toe, he’s also available. Also Daniel James is making progress.”

49ers should have strengthened in January

With all these injuries and knocks to players in the first team, it was surprising as to how the club only managed to add one player in the January window. The defence is a worry, with Sebastiaan Bornauw as the only natural center back option on the bench. Left back also has Gabriel Gudmundsson as the only natural left footer in the position.

Up top, the injury records of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are not stellar, so it was a bit of a surprise how the club managed to fail to bring in another center forward. The 49ers have made a huge gamble, and will be hoping it pays off at the end of the season.
