Fulham were denied a Deadline Day transfer ahead of their meeting with Everton this weekend

The Toffees will make the trip to Craven Cottage this weekend as they look to extend their unbeaten run. They will be eager to get a win on the board after drawing 1-1 against Brighton and Leeds United in their last two games.

Fulham would have been hoping to have Ricardo Pepi on their roster at this point but a late change in narrative denied them the transfer.

Fulham transfer collapses ahead of Everton clash

According to Football Insider, Fulham saw ‘multiple late attempts’ to sign Pepi rejected by PSV Eindhoven. Silva and co were looking to get a Deadline Day deal over the line and had put a significant offer on the table for the forward, but the move did not materialise.

Fulham offered ‘multiple formulas’ in attempt to make the deal happen, including a buy-to-loan deal that would have seen Pepi stay at PSV until the summer.

However, the Eredivisie side rejected Fulham’s approach, reportedly due to them running out of time to secure a replacement.

Fulham had deal agreed for Ricardo Pepi, says Fabrizio Romano

The transfer expert reported that Fulham had agreed a £32 million deal with PSV to bring Pepi to Craven Cottage.

Reporting on social media, Romano said: “Fulham have agreed €37m package with PSV Eindhoven for Ricardo Pepi! All agreed also on personal terms. Final step needed: PSV looking for replacement on the market.”

As Romano also reported PSV’s need to find a suitable replacement for Pepi, this clearly seems to be where the deal unravelled. The USA international has been a key player for the Dutch side this season and was on a super goal-scoring run before his injury.

Pepi scored five goals in his last five Eredivisie appearances, helping to keep their form ticking over as they push for the league title. PSV are currently top of the table, a whopping 17 points clear of closest rivals Feyenoord.

They are very much on track to secure their third consecutive league title and Ricardo is under contract until 2030, so there is no real pressure for them to sell a prized asset player.
