‘Not as hostile…’ – Sean Dyche takes sly dig at Elland Road ahead of pivotal Leeds United clash

Leeds United will be hoping to get back on track with their aim of achieving safety in the Premier League. This Friday, the Whites will face Nottingham Forest in a crucial bottom of the table clash.

Both sides are looking to pull away from the relegation zone after poor starts to the season. Leeds lost last time out against Arsenal, but their overall form shows promise – just two defeats in their last 11 in all competitions. Sean Dyche’s men have also picked up some huge results in recent weeks, and are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games.

Sean Dyche makes jab at Leeds United ahead of Friday night’s game

Elland Road has played a big part in the Whites’ season, with the club picking over half of their points from there. Forest boss Sean Dyche however, thinks Leeds United fans are ‘not as hostile’ as they once were years ago:

“I think it’s like most grounds now, they’re not as hostile as they were 30 years ago, but they’re still hostile as compared to the modern game that’s the way it is, but I’ve always enjoyed going there, and regardless of results, I like grounds like that, I like those atmospheres. Somewhat, if you like the old-fashioned feel of a ground, it’s got a massive history, of course and a massive fanbase.”

“I’ve always enjoyed those grounds and enjoyed going to them. Obviously, you enjoy it more if you can get a result, but I think it’s a good old ground for the right reasons, I must say, it’s got that real feel to it and always a tough place to go,”

Whites have to bounce back

That Arsenal defeat was a brutal one to handle; before that the Whites had had success against many visitors. This Friday, Elland Road must create an atmosphere for the team to get something out of the game.

Pressure is building as Forest and West Ham continue to get results, and Leeds’ cushion above the relegation zone continues to drop. The Hammers will have their own bottle of the table clash against Burnley, with key points at stake. Fans will be hoping Daniel Farke can get the tactics and team selection on point this time around.
