Everton are expected to try to move on Dwight McNeil in the summer transfer window after his failed move to Crystal Palace in January, according to Football Insider.
McNeil has struggled to cement himself as a regular starter for the Toffees this season, with the signing of Jack Grealish limiting his chances under David Moyes. Grealish has now suffered a potentially season-ending injury, but the Merseyside club brought in Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea as his replacement.
As a result of the George addition, Everton were happy to offload McNeil in the January window, but they were unable to finalise his exit on deadline day. McNeil will be available as if nothing happened for Moyes, but given their willingness to let him go in the winter, a summer exit would be far from a surprise.

According to former scout Mick Brown, reporting for Football Insider, Everton are likely to look to cash in on McNeil during the summer transfer window. Brown is doubtful that Palace will return for him as they clearly had their reasons for pulling out of a deal, but there will be other clubs interested in securing his signature.
“McNeil now will have to be looking for other opportunities, because Everton were obviously prepared to let him go because he’s not part of the plans. If that’s the case now, it’ll be the case in the summer and I expect they’ll be looking to move him on. Whether Palace come back in for him, I highly doubt it because as I say they had their reasons for pulling out, but there will be other clubs interested.”
GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs broke the news that McNeil's move to Crystal Palace was off, despite the Eagles submitting a deal sheet with a transfer agreed.
McNeil Clearly Wants Everton Exit

It's clear that McNeil, who was described as 'terrific' by former manager Sean Dyche, wanted to head through the exit door at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, as he was willing to sign on the dotted line for Palace. McNeil's girlfriend emphasised his desire to leave on Instagram, posting a statement slamming Crystal Palace for their treatment of the former Burnley winger.
“To have something promised to you, you have been dragged along an emotional rollercoaster, and to be toyed with until the final minute. To have 4 and a half years of your life promised to you, travelling, medicals, agreements made…promises made. To have prepared to move your entire life, our life’s 100 of miles away in the space of a few hours. For it to be torn away from you at the last second, with absolutely no explanation. Going from everything - to radio silence, no phone call, no communication and be left, broken hearted with nothing but confusion, has hurt more than I can say."
An exit in the summer certainly feels like the right solution for all involved.
