Rasmus Hojlund responds to Man United post with message 'for the rest of the season'

Rasmus Hojlund always acted professionally at Manchester United, even when being forced out of the club, and there is still a good relationship between the striker and supporters.

A decision was made in the summer by Ruben Amorim and Manchester United’s footballing department that Rasmus Hojlund would be frozen out of the squad.

Despite Hojlund wanting to stay at United and fight for his spot in the first team, he was cast out of the pre-season squad to make space for summer signing Benjamin Sesko.

Will Benjamin Sesko WIN the “Sesko vs Hojlund” debate?

Is there even a debate to be had or has he already won it?

When he first arrived at Old Trafford, it was made clear that Hojlund was a boyhood United fan, and he always gave his all for the club, even if at times his quality was not where it needed to be.

Now on loan at Napoli, Hojlund has been in great form under Antonio Conte, but his recent social media activity made it clear that he still has a soft spot for the Red Devils.

Via Instagram, Hojlund wrote: “Thank u all for the birthday wishes. Best of luck for the rest of the season. May the success continue.”

Did Manchester United make a mistake sending Rasmus Hojlund on loan?

United find themselves on a three-match winning streak under Michael Carrick and Hojlund is clearly taking notice of the Red Devils flying up the Premier League table.

Over in Italy, Hojlund and Napoli also find themselves in a race for Champions League qualification, sitting third in Serie A and now nine points off leaders Inter Milan.

Will Rasmus Hojlund return to Man United in the summer?

It has been suggested that Hojlund should return to United when his loan deal at Napoli expires, but it isn’t quite that simple.

There is a well-documented £38m buy clause attached to Hojlund’s loan which is automatically triggered if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

With 15 league games remaining in Italy, Napoli are comfortably inside the top four, so unless there is a late collapse from Conte’s side, it seems incredibly likely that Hojlund will make his move permanent.

United have moved on and are focused on Sesko’s progress anyway. Within Carrington, there is confidence that Sesko is an improvement on Hojlund, and his goal tally this season is reflecting that.
