Manchester United have enjoyed a remarkable revival under new head coach Michael Carrick that has seen them win their first three matches since he arrived. Those results leave United fourth in the Premier League table and confident of securing Champions League football, with a top-five finish likely to be enough at the end of the season.
United are confident their current squad has enough quality to achieve that objective and as such they decided not to strengthen during the winter transfer window. The club was open to any unmissable market opportunities that might have arise, but did not want to spend for the sake of it and would only move for a player who would be part of their long-term plans.
They will target a midfield refresh and reinforcement at left wing this summer, while they could also be in the market for defensive additions and a back-up goalkeeper. Until then, Carrick will have to work with what he has got and here is what his strongest line up is after the January window closed.
