Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has escaped a serious injury and is expected to be available when Los Blancos visit Valencia this Sunday, club sources told Managing Madrid. The Spanish defender has been playing through pain for weeks now and had to leave last weekend’s match against Rayo Vallecano at half-time. Luckily enough, he seems to be ready to face Valencia although Real Madrid’s coaching staff will likely take a very cautious approach with him during the rest of the week.
Asencio has been a crucial player for Real Madrid with other defenders like Antonio Rüdiger, Eder Militao or even Dean Huijsen sustaining injuries so far this season.
In fact, Huijsen has also been playing through discomfort on his calf, but Los Blancos can’t afford to lose their two center-backs at the moment and that’s why they remain in the starting lineup week in and week out.
