Man United transfer news LIVE: Elliot Anderson decision, two deals identified, Rashford latest

Manchester United continue to be linked with an interest in Elliot Anderson.

While the January transfer window may have come and gone, talk over potential comings and goings at Manchester United continues as eyes turn to the summer window.

The mid-season window was a relatively quiet one for United with no significant incomings or outgoings. United did try to sign Antoine Semenyo, but were beaten by rivals Manchester City, while some young players did complete loan moves away from the club.

Instead, concentration is expected to be on some changes in the summer window, with midfield in particular an area that is expected to be strengthened. United have been heavily linked with interest in Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Brighton's Carlos Baleba.

Over January, there was also speculation over Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer, who grew up as a United fan. Reports suggest that the England international is suffering from homesickness, although that has been denied by manager Liam Rosenior.

In terms of outgoings, the summer will see Casemiro leave the club, while Barcelona could make their loan move for Marcus Rashford permanent. Striker Rasmus Hojlund, on loan at Napoli is in a similar situation.

Elliot Anderson decision

Manchester United have identified Elliot Anderson as their first choice midfield target in the summer transfer window, according to the Athletic.

Anderson, along with Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have been named as targets, but it seems that the Nottingham Forest man is ahead in the race.

All three clubs were unlikely to want to do business in January, but could be more open at the end of the season.

Anderson has impressed for both Forest and England since making the move to the City Ground back in the summer of 2024.

Two transfers identified

Manchester United are expected to strengthen in midfield and on the left wing in the summer transfer window. United kept their powder dry in January, but they will be active at the end of the season.

United were interested in Antoine Semenyo before his £62.5million move to Manchester City. The Reds were prepared to deviate from their plan not to make a mid-season signing because Semenyo was a long-term target and his release clause made him attainable.

The midfield will receive an overhaul in the summer window. Casemiro is set to leave after his fourth season in Manchester, following last month's announcement that his contract will not be extended. Casemiro is the highest earner in the dressing room and his exit will free up money on the wage bill.
