Chido Obi pictured doing extra training with prolific former Premier League striker

Manchester United prospect Chido Obi is putting in the hard yards to step up his development by taking private training sessions.

Chido Obi is still at the very early stages of his development at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old joined United’s academy in October 2024 after leaving Arsenal earlier that year. He made his first team debut in the closing stages of a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in February 2025.

Although Obi was given minutes at the senior level under Ruben Amorim last season, the young striker has yet to feature for the first team this term.

It would be nonsense to suggest that means Obi isn’t good enough because the youngster is playing youth football to aid his development.

Hard work pays off, so United fans can rest assured knowing it’s still early days in Obi’s career.

The 36-cap Senegal star spent five seasons at Newcastle and scored 44 goals in 131 appearances.

Cisse’s experience could help Obi take the next step, but the youngster is right to lean on ex-Premier League stars for advice.

Founder of the Seedorf Football Academy, Kwaku Ohemeng, shared footage on Instagram stories of Obi training with Cisse, along with the caption: “Premier League link up today @chidoobi.martin taking advice from the lion king himself @papissdembacisse.”

The advice could help Obi gain an advantage over defenders in the top flight.

Papiss Cisse record against Man Utd

Cisse made seven appearances against United as a Newcastle player, including six in the Premier League.

The Senegalese forward never won a game against the Red Devils.

Instead, he suffered six defeats and drew one match.

Cisse still managed to score three goals against United.
