Wolves have accepted a £21m offer from Palmeiras to sign Jhon Arias despite the transfer window being closed in England, according to GE Globo.
The Molineux club have had a horrific season so far, sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table with just one win in their 24 games so far, and some of their transfer business last month suggested that the club has already accepted they will be playing Championship football next season.
But after the arrivals of Angel Gomes and Adam Armstrong on deadline day, manager Rob Edwards has strengthened both in central midfield and attack, and that has left the door open for Arias to return to his beloved South America.
Wolves Accept Jhon Arias Bid
Jhon Arias
Wolves splashed £15m to bring the Colombia international to the Premier League during the summer, signing him from Fluminense in Brazil following an impressive display in the Club World Cup.
However, the 28-year-old has struggled to make an impact, scoring just once in 23 games in the top-flight, and recently has been used as more of a box-to-box midfielder by Edwards rather than as a forward.
With the emergence of Mateus Mane also seeing him drop down the pecking order, club bosses have now accepted an offer worth around £21m for Arias for him to return to Brazil, and the player is already negotiating terms for his contract, with a move expected to be formalised soon.
Wolves Decision Make Lots of Sense

While it may seem like Wolves are cutting their losses on a bogus signing, this deal actually makes a lot of sense for the club considering everything that is going on at the club right now.
It's evident that Edwards will do everything he can to avoid relegation, but the situation is bleak with the team 18 points adrift of safety, and certain decisions have to be made with that in mind. Jorgen Strand Larsen's sale to Crystal Palace was one of those decisions, and replacing him with Armstrong, who has a great Championship pedigree, was another.
So getting the chance to make a profit on Arias just six months after his arrival, considering his level of performance and lack of influence on the team, when his value will certainly drop in the summer if the club are in the Championship, is just a win-win situation for all involved.
