The latest Man Utd transfer news and contract updates after the winter window closed.
The 32-year-old has entered the final six months of his current deal and would be allowed to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season. Maguire can already sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club and there is plenty of interest from Italy in his signature, should he become available.
Maguire has played a key role in United's recent rejuvenation under head coach Michael Carrick and there would be few complaints if he were to be offered a contract extension. The early indication is that United could offer the experienced centre-back a new contract on a reduced wage, though it is unclear whether that would appeal to the player.

United yet to make final Maguire decision
Manchester United have already confirmed Casemiro will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season, but there is no final decision on what Harry Maguire will do. Speaking in his latest YouTube video, notorious transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, was quizzed on the matter and revealed that there had been interest from some clubs to sign him last month.
"For Harry Maguire, still nothing advanced in terms of a new contract," he said in the video. "There were some conversations with his agents, yes. Manchester United are very happy with his performances, yes. But to agree on a new contract you have to discuss the salary, all the details and we are not yet at the stage where we can saying Maguire is 100 percent staying. It is a very open situation.
"He is out of contract in the summer. I can also tell you that some Italian clubs tried to approach Manchester United in January to sign Harry Maguire. The answer from United was nobody was leaving the club."
Carrick praises 'fantastic' star
Harry Maguire has shone in the first three matches under new head coach Michael Carrick and will keep his place in the heart of the defence when they host Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Speaking after United defeated Man City during his first match in charge, Carrick picked out the 'fantastic' defender for special praise after his recent injury issues. "I thought it gave us a strong foundation really with Licha and Harry," he told reporters.
"I felt it was a game for experience and knowing what it feels like. It was a big ask for H [Maguire] and credit to him. I think we can take for granted sometimes what players do but for him to play today and come through it. I’m not going to lie, it was a bit of a calculated gamble as well of how long he could play and if he could get through it because he’s literally trained for two or three days for probably eight or nine weeks, so it just shows you what it means really to him.
"I thought he was fantastic. Between him and Licha, they were so solid at the back and gave us the foundation to build on.”
