Crysencio Summerville
Leeds United had one of the best teams in the Championship a year before they actually won promotion. The Whites had a star-studded line up in the 2023/24 season.
Daniel Farke had an attack of Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville. That season saw the club play some serious attacking football that made them one of the best teams to watch. However, the football did not translate to success, as they fell out of the automatic promotion places near the end of the campaign. Leeds ended up reaching the Championship play off final in the summer of 2024.

They lost to Southampton in the final, but the aftermath was a very bad period for the fans. That summer saw the team lose a chunk of their best players including Summerville, Rutter and Archie Gray. Daniel Farke managed to gather the pieces, as his side bounced back the next season – winning the league and promotion.
Crysencio Summerville set to hand Leeds United a huge financial boost
Crysencio Summerville was snapped up by West Ham after a dominant season in the Championship, where he had 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Leeds United earned around £25 million on that transfer alone. It took some time for the winger to adapt, with injuries and fitness problems disrupting his path to the first team. But now for the first time since he moved to London, he looks like a real asset to the team.
And that could land the Whites a huge financial boost in the near-future. According to repors, Leeds are set to earn around £4 million if the 24-year old makes an international appearance at senior level. Voetbal International reporter Suleyman Ozturk says that could happen as soon as next month:
“He now gets such a return and high level… I think he plays so well at West Ham now,” Ozturk told SoccerNews.nl
“He is specifically a type of Noa Lang, a dribbler who can create something. With four goals and two assists in his last five games, Summerville is in top form at West Ham.
“That boy, I think, has the ambition to join the Orange. I think he’s in shape just the right time, so he has a chance to go to the World Cup. He can be the big surprise in the selection you didn’t expect six months ago.”
Ronald Koeman’s side face Norway in an international friendly at the end of March.

Big win for the Whites
Getting around £30 million for one of your best young products in years is a huge win for Leeds United. The club continues to be a good place to develop and platform very good players. Aside Summerville, players like Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter have gone for big fees as well. Getting huge financial incentives off this transfer was also a masterstroke by the 49ers. The club will be hoping that this campaign ends on a high in their return to the top flight.
