Brighton star sends clear transfer message on Instagram post

All the latest transfer news for Brighton and Hove Albion an across the Premier League

Defender Igor Julio looks likely to stay at Brighton until the end of the season despite "conversations" with Cruzeiro.

Igor cut short his loan at West Ham during the winter transfer window and will now provide defensive back-up for Fabian Hurzeler's first team.

The return of the Brazilian allowed Italian international Diego Coppola to go out on loan to Paris FC as he seeks regular football.

There was talk however that Igor could still move back to South America in the coming weeks and the defender responded to that speculation on Instagram to a Cruzeiro fan. “I had some conversations with the club – my agent, actually. Let’s see what happens.”

Brighton are believed to be keen for a permanent transfer, with the 27-year-old now more likely to exit in the summer.

Igor is contracted to the Seagulls until June 2027 and has a guide price of £7m.

Igor received a good reception from the fans

He joined Brighton in 2023 from Fiorentina for around £15m and has made 50 first team appearances for Albion.

The Brazilian is a popular figure among Brighton fans and received a warm welcome back as he warmed up as an unused substitute during Albion's 1-1 draw with Everton last week.

He is unlikely to be a regular in the second half of the season for Hurzeler as Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul van Hecke are the regular centre back pairing with Olivier Boscagli providing cover.

He does though offer a reliable option especially with a busy upcoming schedule of three matches in seven days against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and then Liverpool in the FA Cup.
