Exactly what we were wishing for…’ – Daniel Farke makes honest Harry Gray loan admission

Harry Gray

Leeds United had an eventful January transfer window which started out well, but ended on a disappointing note. Before the window even opened, fans were very sceptical about how things would go.

Last year the Whites decided not to make any major signings in the window as the were fighting for promotion. In the first few weeks of the window, everything was quiet, but the 49ers made a move which sparked it into life. Facundo Buonanotte cut short his loan at Chelsea and joined Leeds United on loan for the rest of the season. It was a key addition after Jack Harrison left on loan to Italy.

The teenager has already found the back of the net in two of his first four games for the League One side. Daniel Farke has spoken about the move and how it was the best decision for the young striker to make.

“We have proactively sent Harry Gray out on loan, and so far, so good.” Farke said in Wednesday’s press conference.

“It’s a perfect start for the loan, hopefully it continues exactly in this way.

“At the moment, exactly what we were wishing for, lots of gametime, some good performances and also in a tough league, so perfect for him.”

Best decision for the youngster

Harry Gray going out on loan to Rotherham was a great decision by the club. The striker needed some first team football after playing for the youth sides for the first half of the season. At his age, the best experience he can get is playing against professionals instead of teenagers. The other option was continuing to leave him to train with the first team while making matchday squads. Daniel Farke himself admitted the youngster was not ready for Premier League football, but League One could be more suited to him. Gray has gotten off to a great start and now the team have hope that he could be a valuable part of the squad next season.
