Report: Leeds already now plotting £26m swoop to sign "machine" full-back for Farke

Leeds United have now set their sights on signing a Bundesliga defender for Daniel Farke this summer, according to reports.

Farke "confident" after January transfer window

Ahead of a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest on Friday, which could see Leeds pull as many as nine points clear of the dropzone if other results go their way, Farke has expressed natural confidence in his side.

Barring recent blips against Everton and Arsenal, the Whites have been excellent over the last two months and only added to their squad in the January transfer window with the arrival of Facundo Buonanotte.

Leeds-deadline-day

Farke's confidence should, therefore, come as no surprise. He told reporters earlier this week: "I don’t have the feeling during this transfer window that we are weaker, so I’m confident with this group that we can achieve our goals. We need one point average (from 38 games) to stay in this league, so we need 12 points to have this average.

"This means three wins and three draws, whatever – six positive results from the last 14 games. The last 12 games we’ve played, we had 10 positive results. I would back my players to get six positive results. I want all 14 to be positive, but I’m confident we are capable to win enough to stay in this league."

Staying in the Premier League this season could take Leeds to a new level on and off the pitch. It would instantly allow the 49ers to look towards more ambitious transfer targets and rumours suggest they're already preparing to do so.

Fulham's Harry Wilson Related

Leeds will be in the race for Harry Wilson this summer, but Daniel Farke may already have an internal solution.

Harry Wilson could be one name to keep an eye on, as his Fulham contract comes to an end in the summer amid ongoing interest from those at Elland Road. So too is Daniel Svensson, who's attracting interest from the Premier League.

Leeds plotting £26m Svensson swoop

According to Bild in Germany, Leeds are now plotting a move to sign Svensson, who is valued at around £26m by Borussia Dortmund.

The German giants could be set to bid farewell to their left-back in the summer and it's not just Leeds interested. Alongside the Yorkshire club, champions-elect Arsenal have also reportedly set their sights on the Dortmund man ahead of the summer.

As such, it would be quite the move if Leeds managed to get ahead of the London giants. If the 49ers are looking to make a statement, then that would certainly be one way to do it.

Whether they choose to make Svensson their third-most expensive signing of all time is another question.

Praise from former Nordsjaelland teammate Jeppe Tverskov, who dubbed the fullback a "machine", suggests that he'd be worth every penny, but only time will tell whether Leeds find that out for themselves.
