Amir Ibragimov now shares injury update months after suffering broken foot at Man Utd

Once considered the prized player within the Manchester United academy, Amir Ibragimov is often forgotten now after injuries have derailed his 2025/26 campaign.

For Amir Ibragimov, 2025 came with plenty of positives, but also negatives, with an injury spoiling his last few months.

Overall, Ibragimov was one of the best performers in 2025 for the Manchester United academy, making light work of U18 football and even impressing for the U21s.

But Ibragimov has missed months with a broken foot, which has led to him becoming a forgotten talent at times when fans consider the best at the club.

Now, he’s shared an update on his current injury situation.

Ibragimov has been out injured since the start of December, missing the FA Youth Cup and also potentially first-team opportunities.

The U18s have suffered from Ibragimov’s absence, with form dropping when he stepped up and then got injured.

Ibragimov has been out for months, but he posted on his Instagram story this week with updates on his future.

First, Ibragimov posted an image of himself sitting in a Mosque with no protective boot on his foot, something which had become a staple of pictures featuring the 17-year-old in recent months.

Following this, Ibragimov shared an image of him playing for United, which was pre-injury, but he had the sand timer emoji as a caption, which is universally known to mean ‘soon’ or ‘countdown’, both of which indicate Ibragimov’s return.

Considered alongside Shea Lacey as a supreme talent within the academy, United will be thrilled to welcome him back.

Amir Ibragimov should be a purely U21 player on return

Ibragimov is only 17, yet he’s far too evolved as a player to be in the U18s going forward.

United have turned Ibragimov into a midfielder who is all action, almost like Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, in terms of scoring, passing, work ethic, and willingness to contribute defensively.

Ibragimov is considered to be a ‘warrior’ by United and is often tipped for greatness, and under recently returned Adam Lawrence, Ibragimov might be set for a massive end to the season.

Earlier this season, Darren Fletcher raved about Ibragimov, claiming he was already a proper leader and set the standards for his side. Now we need to see him do it further up the food chain.
