Everton were snubbed by a few players in the winter transfer window.
Youssef En-Nesyri declined a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in favour of a switch to Saudi Arabia, while Harry Wilson also rejected Everton despite the Toffees making a late approach for the Fulham star.
Furthermore, Sacha Boey snubbed Everton too – along with Crystal Palace and Lyon – much to the annoyance of Bayern Munich who wanted to offload the Frenchman.
Now, an update from Foot Mercato says the defender is “back to square one” after having to settle for a late return to his former club Galatasaray.
If you are David Moyes, who would be your starting right-back for the remainder of the season? 🤔

Sacha Boey back at Galatasaray after rejecting Everton
Christian Falk claimed that Bayern Munich were growing incredibly frustrated as Boey rejected Everton and others last month, eager to offload the right-back after he fell out with Vincent Kompany.
The 25-year-old probably felt he could hold out for a better move, but Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato now writes that the player is “back to square one” after a late loan to Galatasaray materialised before the Turkish deadline on 6th February.
It is where Boey used to play before a £25.6m move to Bayern Munich in January 2024, which is why the French news outlet describe the move as a backwards step for the man born in Montreuil.

It feels as if the Bayern Munich outcast wanted a better move, while Everton themselves ultimately failed to sign a new right-back, so it seems all parties lost out on this occasion.
Chance of a summer deal remains possible for Everton
Everton might feel slightly stung by the rejection from Boey last month, but if The Friedkin Group are not too upset with the Frenchman, a summer deal remains possible.

Galatasaray are not obligated to make this loan deal permanent at the end of the season, and while the Turkish giants do have an option to buy, Everton would be able to match that if the player himself decides he prefers Merseyside over Istanbul.
So, dependent on how things go for Boey back at Galatasaray, a move to Everton still cannot be ruled out.
