Burnley midfielder Florentino Luís has insisted he feels settled at Turf Moor. And he’s fully committed to the club’s fight in the Premier League, despite a challenging campaign so far.
Speaking to Portuguese radio, relayed here by A Bola, the 26-year-old acknowledged that his season has not followed a straight line.
“It has been a job with ups and downs, with very strong moments, but also others below what was expected,” Florentino explained, reflecting on the demands of adapting to a new environment.
He added that building consistency takes time, even at top clubs. “Sometimes the fans don’t have that patience. But once things are consolidated, they will flow better,” he said.
In previous comments, the midfielder had already described life in England as “very challenging”, underlining the physical and tactical demands of the competition.
No regrets despite the Burnley struggle
Florentino joined Burnley on loan from Benfica in the final days of the summer 2025 window. His deal includes a mandatory purchase clause worth around £20.5m (€24m).
While the Clarets currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League, the midfielder made it clear he has no regrets about the move.
“Quite the opposite. I am much happier to be here. It was always my dream to be among the best and I want to stay here,” he said, before adding that he believes that Burnley can secure survival “until the end”.
On the pitch, Florentino has already made 21 appearances for Burnley, contributing two assists, and sees his role growing as the season develops. Alongside club ambitions, he also keeps an eye on international recognition.
The former Benfica player admitted he hopes to earn a call-up to Portugal this year, even if competition is fierce. “I hope it can happen, even though it’s very difficult,” he said.
For now, however, his focus remains on Burnley and helping the club through a demanding Premier League campaign.
