The 50-year-old first joined the League Two strugglers in June 2019, a year on from ending his playing career.

But Jensen, affectionally known as “The Beast”, has now moved on in the wake of Michael Appleton’s sacking last week.

“Shrewsbury Town can confirm that goalkeeping coach Brian Jensen has left the club,” the Shrews said in a statement

“Affectionately known as Beast, Brian spent more than six years with Salop after first joining the coaching staff in June 2019, making a significant contribution both on and off the pitch.

“Everyone at Shrewsbury Town would like to thank Brian for his dedication. We wish him the very best for the future.”

Jensen, who made 311 appearances for Burnley between 2003 and 2013, admits he’ll miss working with the club.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Shrewsbury Town and I’m grateful for the opportunity the club has given me,” he added.

"I’ll miss being part of it and working with such a great group of people.

"I wish everyone at the club nothing but success going forward. Up the Salop.”
