Uli Hoeneß scoffs at those who denounced Bayern Munich’s transfer window

The 2025 summer transfer window was a roller coaster for Bayern Munich fans. After their main target of the last half decade, Florian Wirtz, chose Liverpool over _Die Rekordmeister_ there were reports of other pursuits going south before the Bavarians finally signed Luis Díaz from Liverpool, which many deemed as taking the Premier League champions’ unwanted leftovers. Bayern also failed to sign their next top target, Nick Woltemade. This all led to detractors scoffing at the work done in the window and Bild, being Bild, ranking it the worst one of the Bundesliga.

Fast forward to late January and Bayern are breaking records and impressing in all three competitions. Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß is very impressed by the current run: “The coach has a big contribution to this current success. You can see that when the team and the coach are a unit, we can achieve a lot,” he told MagentaTV, as captured by [@iMiaSanMia](https://x.com/iMiaSanMia/status/2012942046583992797?s=20), before hitting back a little against the detractors. “In the summer, we were being described as bad transfer specialists; supposedly, we hadn’t done anything and hadn’t spent any money. And now we’re 11 points ahead of Dortmund, so things have gone quite well.”

It is hard to argue against the results and Hoeneß is certainly enjoying the vindication. After all, Germans are masters at _Schadenfreude_.
