Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has been out on loan since January 2025. After a short spell at Aston Villa, the Red Devils let him join Barcelona on loan last summer.
The forward has managed 10 goals and 13 assists from 33 matches for the La Liga side so far. Barcelona have agreed a €30m purchase option with Manchester United.
On Thursday, we covered claims from Spain that Rashford doesn’t want to return to Old Trafford. If Barca don’t keep him, the Manchester United owned player would look at other options. That’s unlikely to happen.
He’s on the front page of today’s Sport, with ‘€30m for Rashford’ written in bold.
It’s claimed Hansi Flick’s side will activate the purchase clause to retain him at the Camp Nou. Within the report, Sport explain the reasons for ‘total bet on Rashford’.
The England international made a huge effort to leave Manchester United for Barca last summer. His intention is to continue with the Catalan club for long and the latter are also in favour of this.

Barcelona sporting director Deco had initially asked the Red Devils man’s agent for some time to make the final decision. They have now decided to buy him and will only change if he picks up a serious injury. If not, Rashford will sign a contract until 2029.
Both Flick and Deco argue that it’s ‘virtually impossible’ to find a player of his calibre for €30m.
The fee is certainly affordable for the Blaugrana, and the Manchester United man is also willing to adjust his salary to fit their wage bill. He adapted into the dressing room and like by his teammates. His experience and age are also other factors.

Barca considered extended his loan or another season or trying to negotiate a fresh deal with Manchester United. The Spanish giants see ‘no room for negotiations’ and therefore will activate the €30m clause.
The newspaper adds: ‘At most, there could be a reduction if United were interested in any of the players deemed surplus to requirements in the Barca squad, although that scenario is not currently in place.’
Taking all these factors into consideration, Sport claim it was a ‘unanimous decision’ from Barca to buy Rashford.
