Eddie Howe has spoken to the media ahead of Newcastle United’s home clash with Brentford.
Eddie Howe has hinted at Bruno Guimaraes making a much-needed return for Newcastle United this weekend.
The Brazilian has missed Newcastle’s last four games since suffering an ankle injury against PSV Eindhoven. In that time, the Magpies have registered three defeats and a draw - highlight Guimaraes’ importance.

Speaking to reporters, Howe provided hope that Guimaraes can return to action on Saturday. He said: “He’s getting closer. He did a training session, I believe, on Wednesday when we were travelling (and) felt pretty good. So I'll see him today and, yeah, fingers crossed he'll be fit.

Anthony Gordon setback
However, the news was not as optimistic on Anthony Gordon after he tweaked his hamstring at Manchester City in midweek. Eagle-eyed fans on social media noticed the winger clutching one leg before hobbling off holding another as Newcastle trailed heavily on aggregate.
Howe revealed that Gordon is unlikely to feature against the Bees tomorrow evening. He added: "No major update on Anthony. I think there's probably every chance he'll miss this game coming up at the weekend. "But we hope it's not a serious injury and he'll be back pretty soon."
