The Red Devils will host Spurs at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, with United enjoying a serious boost in momentum under Michael Carrick in recent weeks.

Carrick returned to the Premier League club last month and the former Man Utd and England midfielder will see out the remainder of the season as interim head coach.

United sacked Ruben Amorim as head coach in January after a contentious split emerged in his relationship with the Ineos regime at Old Trafford.

Carrick crossed paths with former Man Utd-linked manager Thomas Frank ahead of Spurs’ first Champions League match of the 2025-26 campaign last September.

When asked about the encounter, he said: “Yeah, it certainly can change. I really enjoyed it, actually.

“We got on really well, first time I’ve met him properly, we had a good chat just about general kind of football things.”

Carrick opened up about his talk with Thomas Frank in 2025 and he admitted that the 52-year-old Tottenham manager was “really accommodating” towards him.

“A little bit on processes and on ideas a little bit,” he added, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“He was really accommodating, actually. I enjoyed it, so it will be good to see him again.”

Frank left Brentford at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and the former Bees boss replaced Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham last summer.
