Leeds United have £26m star on their radar but Arsenal are also interested - report

Leeds United reportedly have Borussia Dortmund star Daniel Svensson on their radar - but Arsenal and Inter Milan are also said to be keen.

The 23-year-old is comfortable at left-back or in midfield and has not missed a single Bundesliga game this season.

He has featured predominantly on the left-hand side of midfield, impressing following his permanent move from FC Nordsjælland in the summer.

However, it has been suggested there is already interest in luring him away from Signal Iduna Park.

Leeds United linked with Borussia Dortmund star

According to BILD, the Sweden international has emerged on the radar of Leeds. Arsenal and Inter Milan, meanwhile, are also thought to be interested in the highly-rated utility man.

It has been claimed an offer of €30m (£26m) would be required to convince to Dortmund to part with Svensson.

This would be a significant outlay for Leeds but given how Svensson has fared in Germany, he would seemingly be a shrewd addition.

However, interest from clubs such as Arsenal would make it difficult for a deal to be done. While there has been growth at Elland Road over the last year, the Whites cannot offer European football and a probable title charge like Arsenal can.

A potentially crucial summer at Elland Road

If Leeds do retain their Premier League status this season, pushing on in the summer will be absolutely crucial. For the Whites, it will be a case of learning lessons from the Andrea Radrizzani era.

In the summer of 2021, after Leeds had stormed into the top half of the Premier League table, an unremarkable window performance set the wheels in motion for an eventual return to the Championship.

Leeds narrowly escaped the drop in 2022 before eventually succumbing to relegation in 2023. If the Whites are to realise their ambitions of being an established Premier League club in a glitzy redeveloped stadium, they must show ambition beyond the end of the current campaign.
