Luis Enrique is expected to snub Manchester United in favour of signing a new deal with Paris Saint Germain.
United had made Enrique one of their main targets in the club’s search for a permanent manager. Reports claim United representatives travelled to Paris to hold talks with the former Spain and Barcelona boss.
His current deal with PSG runs until the end of next season, and it has been suggested United tried to persuade him not to sign a new contract. But it's understood Enrique believes managing United is not the right project for him.

And he also has reservations about taking charge of a club which might not be in the Champions League next season.
Enrique, 55, has been in discussions with PSG sporting director Luis Campos about a deal that will keep him in the French capital until 2030.
Enrique has a strong relationship with Campos, who has also just signed a contract extension to remain at PSG. The news is a blow to United owners the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who had made Enrique one of their main targets.

Michael Carrick has taken over as interim boss until the end of this season, before club bosses will look to choose a full-time manager in the summer.
United’s owners want to appoint someone who can handle the huge pressure and expectation that comes with being in charge. Enrique has a wealth of managerial experience at the highest level.
He won nine major trophies with Barca, including the Champions League in 2015. He has gone on to land another 10 trophies with PSG - including his second Champions League title as a boss with the French giants.

Enrique is said to favour a return to Barca for a second spell in charge, when the time comes for him to leave PSG.
Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti are also under consideration, although Carrick will also become a strong contender if he secures a top four finish this season.
