The former Sporting CP head coach became the seventh permanent Man Utd manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after his arrival in England in 2024.

Amorim left his role at Sporting CP and the Portuguese coach replaced Erik ten Hag, who was sacked by United, in the Old Trafford hot seat during the 2024-25 season.

The former Man Utd and Sporting manager’s Old Trafford exit paved the way for Michael Carrick’s sensational return to the Premier League club in January.

The Athletic has now revealed a massive difference between Ruben Amorim’s reign as Man Utd manager compared with how Carrick has handled himself so far.

According to the news outlet, Amorim would rarely speak to his United first-team players after a match, irrespective of the result being a win, a defeat or a draw.

However, it has been reported that Carrick will touch base with the Red Devils players more often than Amorim after each match that he has overseen so far.

How Michael Carrick has approached another important aspect with Man Utd players

The Athletic added that Carrick’s decision to speak to his Man Utd players can even lead to him saving his ‘detailed analysis’ later down the line.

It has been claimed that the former United and England midfielder will deliver his analysis ‘days after the match’ at times and can also be done ‘individually’ in cases.

Carrick will take charge of his fourth Premier League match as interim Red Devils boss on Saturday afternoon, with United hosting Tottenham at Old Trafford.
