Gideon gone

by Staff Writer

Friday, 6th February 2026

Gideon Kodua has converted his temporary stay at Luton to a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old forward, who was contracted to West Ham until the summer of 2028 was due to spend the season on loan at Kenilworth Road with view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season should all parties agree.

However the Hatters have chosen to exercise the option early due to their positive impression of the Custom House-born Kodua, who has already made 31 appearances for Luton already this season, scoring a healthy 10 goals in the process.

"Gideon has been in sensational form during the opening half of the season from a variety of roles on either flank or behind the main striker," said Luton.

"The 21-year-old attacker has quickly become a firm fans’ favourite at Kenilworth Road and converting his status into a full-time Luton Town player was inevitable, but has been accelerated by the arrival of two more loan players in January."

Town manager Manager Jack Wilshere added: “Gids is so important to how we want to play. He’s one that I knew plenty about before I came here, after scoring against my team in the FA Youth Cup final for West Ham, but he has been outstanding for us.

“His contribution in terms of output is there for all to see with the number of goals he’s scored. But what you don’t see is his attitude to working and improving himself on a daily basis at the training ground.

“He’s emerged as a key character within the squad and someone we are so pleased to have on board now for the long-term, and not just the remainder of this season.”

Everyone at KUMB naturally wishes Gideon - who captained the Hammers’ Under 18s to FA Youth Cup glory in 2023 - all the best for the future.
