Alan Shearer Sends £66m Man United Signing "Confidence" Message As He Makes Comparison To Newcastle Star

Man United are preparing for a game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, looking to cement their place in the top four.

Michael Carrick’s side come off a three-game winning streak, which was kept going by a 3-2 win against Fulham last weekend. With a win against Tottenham, they could go just two points behind Aston Villa in third place.

Going back to that Fulham game, it looked as though United would drop points, as the Cottagers scored two goals in the 85th and 91st minutes to wipe out Man United’s two-goal lead.

However, striker Benjamin Sesko scored a winner in the 94th minute to hand United all three points and send Old Trafford into raptures.

Shearer urges Sesko to “show more” for Man United

Sesko joined at Old Trafford in the summer for a fee of £66m, and he has since struggled to find consistent form, scoring five goals in 19 Premier League games.

However, the striker will hope that his goal against Fulham can help him kick on, especially considering United’s recent upturn in form under Carrick.

Alan Shearer has urged the striker to show more at United moving forward. He wrote in his column for the Metro: “Benjamin Sesko got a big goal last week but hasn’t really started at Man United, he’s been in and out so it’s very similar to Newcastle’s situation with their strikers.

“He has to show a lot more, but that goal will do his confidence the world of good and he will be hoping he can play a big part again this week.”

He referenced Newcastle, and was likely referring to both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, who have combined for just eight Premier League goals this season.

Shearer thinks United will beat Tottenham

Shearer was making his predictions ahead of the weekend’s Premier league action, and he hailed Man United’s recent form, predicting that they should be able to beat Spurs on Saturday.

He wrote: “With Spurs, their away form isn’t too bad. Having said that, Man United are at home and flying. For that reason, I’ll go for a Man United win.”
