Manchester United are preparing to welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
He could make it four wins in a row if United manage to beat Tottenham on Saturday in a re-match of last season’s Europa League final. Spurs will come to the North West hoping to halt Carrick’s incredible start to his tenure in charge at the club.
Crucial Spurs trio set to play vs Manchester United
It is looking bleak for Spurs injury-wise, with several big-name players, including James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro and more, all our injured for the game on Saturday.
Heading into the weekend, it looked as though defenders Micky Van de Ven, Christian Romero, and Djed Spence could miss the game, as they were all listed as injury doubts for Spurs, which would have been a huge boost for Manchester United.
However, Frank said on Thursday in his pre-match press conference that all three are expected to be available, confirming 100% that Van de Ven and Romero will start as the centre-back pairing. Speaking about the duo, Frank said: “Micky trained today and is available for selection on Saturday, so that's good. Cuti [Romero] is also available.”
Frank was less certain about Spence, but he said that the full-back would very likely be available for selection on Saturday. He said: “Djed is getting closer - it will be touch-and-go, and there's a good chance he'll be ready.”
All three could be in line to start against United, which could make the jobs of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bruno Fernandes that bit more difficult, with a strengthened Tottenham defence.
Do Man United have any injuries?
Carrick doesn’t have too much to worry about injury-wise, but there are three players who the Man United boss won’t have at his disposal for the game on Saturday afternoon.
Firstly, Patrick Dorgu is out for at least another month, as he suffered a hamstring injury against Arsenal, which was a massive blow, as he looked like a transformed player under Carrick, playing as an attacker, rather than a wing-back, as he did under Ruben Amorim.
Matthijs De Ligt will also miss the game, as he is still recovering from a lower back injury that he suffered in December. The Dutchman has been out for much longer than expected. He isn’t back in training yet and is expected to make a return late in February.
Mason Mount is also expected to miss Saturday’s match, as he is recovering from a minor injury that he picked up last month. He isn’t expected to be out for long, but the Spurs game will come too soon for him.
