“Summer will be different…”: Top reporter claims “untouchable” West Ham star could leave club…

West Ham United’s January window was a mixed bag.

While the club moved decisively to bring in four new faces – capped by Axel Disasi’s deadline-day loan arrival – they also suffered a huge setback with Lucas Paquetá’s return to Flamengo.

Now, with the relegation fight intensifying, another worrying update has emerged involving one of the Hammers’ most important players.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham turned down two approaches for Crysencio Summerville during the January transfer window, with interest arriving from both the Premier League and Serie A.

The Italian journalist stresses that the club’s stance was crystal clear at the time. Summerville was considered completely untouchable mid-season, and the player himself was fully committed to staying put and helping West Ham battle their way clear of danger.

However, Romano has also sounded a warning about what lies ahead.

While January was off-limits, the picture is expected to change once the season ends, with Summerville likely to attract serious attention in the summer.

Romano wrote: “West Ham rejected two approaches from Premier League and Serie A for Crysencio Summerville in January. Seen as untouchable for this season + player happy to stay and help West Ham but summer will be different.

“Expected to be one to watch in June with several clubs keen.”

Summerville’s growing reputation explains the interest. After a slow start following his move from Leeds United in 2024, the winger has hit form at exactly the right time, scoring in each of his last four matches and finally showing the cutting edge West Ham hoped for.

For now, West Ham can breathe easy knowing Summerville remains fully focused on keeping the club in the Premier League. But Romano’s comments make one thing clear: if he finishes the season strongly, holding onto him once summer arrives could be a very different challenge altogether.
