Leeds United team news is in for this evening’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest under the Elland Road lights.
Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United team for this evening’s massive Premier League showdown against huge survival bid rivals Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.
As expected, newly-injured midfielder Anton Stach drops out of the side and the one change to the team sees attacker Noah Okafor come back into the XI as Ilia Gruev keeps his place alongside Ethan Ampadu and Brenden Aaronson in midfield.
In a triple boost for the substitute’s bench, Dan James, Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha all return but there is no place for Facundo Buonanotte who misses out.
The January signing Brighton loanee is not injured but fails to make the matchday squad in a selection decision.
Farke revealed at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference that defenders Bijol and James Justin had both returned to training this week following recent injuries.
Farke, though, warned that it would be a case of waiting to see how Bijol’s body reacted after missing his side’s last three games with a hamstring injury.
Justin, meanwhile, injured his toe in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat at home to Arsenal but only suffered bruising.
Winger James returned to training last week in his recovery from the hamstring tendon injury suffered in the 3-2 defeat at Manchester City at the end of November.
James was not involved against Arsenal but Farke said the winger was making progress and the Wales international star now makes his first matchday squad since suffering his injury.
As of Wednesday’s pre-match press conference, striker Nmecha had still not returned to training following his hamstring injury, Farke admitting the forward would unlikely be back to face Forest but was not too far away.
Nmecha, though, also now returns to the bench, completing the triple boost along with the returns of James and Bijol.
A new blow, though, has seen Leeds lose midfielder Stach, the German struggling with hip problems after the defeat to Arsenal and likely to miss both tonight’s visit of Forest and Tuesday night’s trip to Chelsea.
Farke has said that Stach is probably looking at ten to 14 days out.
Leeds United vs Nottingham Forest: Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Justin, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Ampadu, Gruev, Aaronson; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin. Subs: Perri, Bijol, Bornauw, Longstaff, Tanaka, James, Gnonto, Nmecha, Piroe. #lufc
