Man Utd linked manager has already 'decided' to leave his current club after this season, 'Keen to come...'

Michael Carrick has been perfect in his three games since taking over the Manchester United managerial role from Ruben Amorim, but he has far from secured the job permanently.

Ineos have a massive decision to make over the next few months regarding who will bring Manchester United back to the top.

Michael Carrick is doing everything he can to be in contention for the appointment; however, even then, it might not be enough if a genuine world-class head coach becomes available.

United are considering several, with Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, and Carlo Ancelotti among those named who aren’t available until after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, there are also options currently managing clubs, with one now set to be available come June.

Who do you think will be Man Utd manager at the start of the 2026/27 season?

Roberto De Zerbi’s future is decided amid Manchester United links

Roberto De Zerbi is a managerial target that few fans would be completely on board with for a variety of reasons.

However, De Zerbi has long been a United target, and so it is plausible to think he will be considered again this summer.

However, last week, De Zerbi looked set to quit Marseille as he took his frustrations public, which will do his chances no favours. The Italian ultimately stayed, but his future is far from certain.

Speaking to The United Stand on Friday, Ben Jacobs has revealed that De Zerbi has already decided to leave Marseille at the end of this season.

“Roberto De Zerbi was relatively close to either being fired or walking away during the January transfer window, and Marseille’s president decided in the end to stick with him, but De Zerbi was quite close to saying he’s done.

“Flash forward to the summer, my information is that De Zerbi has decided to leave then instead.

“De Zerbi is keen to come to the Premier League.”

De Zerbi can be keen all he wants, but United likely have several options higher on the pecking order, Carrick one of them.

Another would be Luis Enrique, who has been linked to Old Trafford.

Luis Enrique to Manchester United denied

One of the more ambitious names linked with United has been Luis Enrique.

This is because Enrique has had previous desire to manage in the Premier League, while there has been a suggestion that he will leave PSG at the end of this season.

But Jacobs has pushed back on this, explaining that he is very unlikely to be available.

“It’s completely fake news that he’s available in the summer.”

Continuing, Jacobs adds that he might not be the best fit anyway.

“Behind the scenes, he can be quite pushy and insistent on it being his way, and he can push back against this wide collaboration and traditional models that have many voices.

“So if Manchester United were to go in that direction, they’d have to steal him away from PSG, and they would have to be sure he was a fit, and I’m not so sure with the model Manchester United are trying to build that they would necessarily see the PSG boss as the right fit.”

“Unless, after all of this turmoil, and all this changing of minds, Dan Ashworth, Amorim and Ten Hag coming and going, they turn around and go, the model is wrong.”
