Manchester United couldn’t sign a much-needed midfielder across the 2025/26 season, and are thought to be looking at options ahead of the summer.
Now Manuel Locatelli, who has been quite impressive for Juventus this season, has again been pushed forward.
The 28-year-old has played 31 times across all competitions, becoming a key player under Luciano Spalletti. He’s been setting setting the tone for the side, also captaining them in almost every match.
Calciomercato IT now report Manchester United’s interest in the Italy international.
The outlet claim that Locatelli’s name has caught the attention of the Red Devils’ scouts. They have been left impressed by his performances this season, having already made attempts to sign him.
There is belief Manchester United’s financial prowess can finally see Locatelli depart in the summer. Interest now would be related to building a transfer for then.
It is important to note that Locatelli’s relationship with Luciano Spalletti has never been ideal. During his time with the Italian national side, Spalletti excluded the midfielder from his squad for the European Championships.
This saw the former AC Milan player express his displeasure on social media. Even at Juve, Spalletti criticised Locatelli earlier this season.
Nothing dramatic transpired but the midfielder has only grown in stature. He has reacted well, yet it remains to be seen if the often-frosty relationship plays a role in his exit.
At 28, though, Manchester United interest would surely have to be questioned. There’s also a lack of Premier League experience, more notable for a player his age.
Manuel Locatteli has been linked with multiple Premier League, including Newcastle United in October.
