Despite falling down the pecking order, Sesko earned high praise from Michael Carrick and the Man Utd interim head coach was in awe at the reception.

“I mean, I can stand here and talk about it all day long, but when you see the moment the boys are celebrating with each other and the supporters,” Carrick said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“The reaction of the boys warming up, to come on, celebrating with Ben for the winner, as much as anyone else.”

Ruben Amorim’s dismissal from Man Utd seems a distant memory now after the euphoria that has emerged from Carrick’s reign at Old Trafford so far.

Not only are there multiple standout performers from each match, but the sentiment has immediately shifted for United fans towards optimism for the rest of the season.

Carrick is well aware of what he is doing at the Red Devils, especially by pointing out that the reaction to Benjamin Sesko’s winner could never be artificially made.

“You can’t fake that. I can talk about it all day long, but to feel it, the boys did that. It was definitely a big moment for Ben and [a] big moment for all of us, and the supporters included.

“It’s why we come to watch football, and support Manchester United, for moments like that and we want more of that.”

United will be back in action on Saturday afternoon and the fourth-place Red Devils will face Tottenham in their Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.
