But Rayan had primarily been deployed on the right at Vasco da Gama, as well as occasionally through the middle as a number nine.

Asked which position he sees as the forward’s best, Iraola explained to the Daily Echo: “For me, he's a right winger.
“His best position is a right winger. [That’s] what I feel right now, I need to see more the player, but he has played also up front.
“Most of his last games for Vasco were as the number nine.
“The wingers for us, I try to make them play both sides because sometimes, like the other day against Wolves, the way we were pressing, the demands defensively for the right side were a lot bigger than the ones for the left winger.

“So probably he adapts for that game better on the left side because he will be more comfortable.
“Even if he is probably a right winger per se and he wants to play there, probably, I will try like we've done with all the other wingers.
“I think no exception, no exception. I, I'm trying to think what winger we've had just playing one side.
“Maybe Sinisterra, most of the times left, but I've used also him sometimes right. So I will try to make him a winger to play on both sides.”
