Manchester United have their sights set on a fourth consecutive Premier League win when Tottenham visit Old Trafford on Saturday. Michael Carrick currently holds a 100 per cent record during his second stint as United boss.

Since replacing Ruben Amorim, current interim manager Carrick has been a hit. His first two games of this spell were stunning victories against Manchester City and then Arsenal.

His side looked as though they'd share the spoils against Fulham last week, but a late Benjamin Sesko goal ensured they were 3-2 winners. One of Carrick's former team-mates, Wayne Rooney, will undoubtedly be overjoyed by this success, and the United legend's son Kai Rooney has started to progress through the club's academy ranks.

Kai Rooney issues contract response

On Thursday, The Sun reported that Rooney's son had been offered a new deal by United. The contract supposedly put to him would switch to a three-year pro deal when he finishes school this summer and be worth £50k per year. A signing-on fee is also mentioned.

It is claimed Kai and his family have until July to decide whether they sign the deal and are reportedly under no obligation to stay. Other outlets have also reported on this alleged new deal, including the Daily Mail.

Now, Kai appears to have issued a response to these rumours of a new contract on his Instagram story. He wrote "Don't listen to mail." This preceded three laughing emojis.

United icon Rooney spoke about his son's Under-18s bow on his The Wayne Rooney Show and said: "Kai got moved up to the Under-18s squad for the Youth Cup and it was great to see him come on.

"It brought back memories of when I played in the Youth Cup for Everton. It was a proud moment and I'm delighted for him. Hopefully he continues that and he can have a good run with the team."

Marcus Rashford agreement reached

On the topic of academy stars, there has reportedly been an update regarding boyhood United forward Marcus Rashford's future. The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Barcelona.

In Spain, Rashford has enjoyed himself and has hit double figures for goals already this season under Hansi Flick. Upon signing his loan deal with the Catalan club, a £26million purchase option was included.

Now, according to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have decided that they will take up that option - as long as Rashford makes it to the end of the season without suffering an injury.

The report states that head coach Flick and sporting director Deco believe it is impossible to find another player of Rashford's quality for £26m. Past rumours had suggested they wanted to extend Rashford's loan by another year or negotiate a cheaper deal, but the situation appears to have changed.
