Manchester United are targeting a fourth successive Premier League victory as Tottenham make the trip to Old Trafford on Saturday. Michael Carrick currently boasts an unblemished record in his second tenure as United manager.

Since taking over from Ruben Amorim, interim boss Carrick has made an impressive impact. His opening two fixtures during this period saw spectacular triumphs against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Last week against Fulham, it appeared his team would be forced to settle for a draw, but Benjamin Sesko's late strike secured a 3-2 victory. Wayne Rooney, one of Carrick's former colleagues, will surely be delighted by these results, whilst his son Kai Rooney has begun making strides through the club's youth system.

According to reports, the 16-year-old, who's featured for United's Under-18s this season, has received a contract offer potentially worth up to £50,000 annually at Carrington. Kai appears to have addressed these reports as the Manchester Evening News provides the latest developments from Old Trafford.

Kai Rooney addresses contract speculation

On Thursday, The Sun claimed that Rooney's son had received a contract proposal from United. The deal allegedly presented would convert to a three-year professional contract upon completing his education this summer and carry a value of £50k annually.

A signing-on bonus is also referenced. Kai and his family reportedly have until July to make a decision on signing the contract, with no apparent pressure to commit.

The Daily Mail and several other publications have covered this purported new agreement. Kai seemingly addressed these contract speculations on his Instagram story, posting: "Don't listen to mail." He followed this with three laughing emojis.

United legend Rooney discussed his son's Under-18s debut on The Wayne Rooney Show, saying: "Kai got moved up to the Under-18s squad for the Youth Cup and it was great to see him come on.

"It brought back memories of when I played in the Youth Cup for Everton. It was a proud moment and I'm delighted for him. Hopefully he continues that and he can have a good run with the team."

Marcus Rashford agreement reached

Regarding academy graduates, fresh developments have emerged concerning homegrown United striker Marcus Rashford's prospects. The 28-year-old is presently on loan at Barcelona.

Rashford has flourished in Spain, already reaching double figures for goals this campaign under manager Hansi Flick. When he joined the Catalan giants on loan, a £26million purchase clause was incorporated into the arrangement.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona have now determined they will activate that clause, provided Rashford completes the season without sustaining an injury. The report indicates that head coach Flick and sporting director Deco believe it is impossible to find another player of Rashford's quality for £26m.

Previous rumours had suggested they wanted to extend Rashford's loan by another year or negotiate a cheaper deal, but the situation seems to have altered.
