Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton Yan Diomande that you may have missed…
There has been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that Manchester United wants to try and sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande when the summer transfer window opens up in a few months time.
Despite all the quality that Manchester United has all over the pitch, there has been reports that the Red Devils have joined the chase alongside Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in the hunt to try and sign Yan Diomande.
Diomande has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from CD Leganes this past summer. and he 19-year-old has been one of the most productive attackers for the Bundesliga club this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 outings in all competitions thus far
Sky Sports recently claimed a €100m price-tag is putting the Reds and other interested clubs off making a bid this January. They would rather secure a deal in the region of €60m–70m (£52m-60.6m).
But this doesn’t seem likely after a recent statement from Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of Red Bull’s supervisory board.
“As chairman of the supervisory board, I can confidently say he will definitely remain with us next season — even if an offer of €80m or €90m were to come in,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

The money that is being talked about for Diomande is well over £80 million, he has been brilliant for the German side this season and his quality and age is why that valuation is so high.
Manchester United have a long list of transfer targets, they have certain type of player that they would like to bring to the side, and although Diomande is a quality player, he probably is not the kind of player that will make a difference in the side.
There are a number of players linked with Diomande, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up if he leaves the German side.
UNITED TOLD TO SIGN DIOMANDE
Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is the player Manchester United should look to sign when the summer transfer window opens up, according to former Gunners star turned pundit Paul Merson.
Under Michael Carrick, Manchester United look like a side that is capable of getting into those Champions League places by the end of the season, meaning that the club will need to improve key areas of the pitch.
That has led to all sorts of speculation that United chiefs are very much interested in adding Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson to the side as a possible replacement for the departing Casemiro.
But giving his thoughts on Sky Sports News, Merson said he was yet to be ‘wowed’ by Anderson, while picking out England team-mate Wharton as a better fit for United in the summer.
‘I like Elliot Anderson, but I’m not wow-factored over him,’ Merson explained. I like Elliot Anderson, but they’re fourth bottom of the league, Forest, so they’re not dominating all midfields, are they?
‘And if you’re a midfield player, that’s where the engine is. Do you know what I mean?
‘I don’t see him running the show in midfield at Nottingham Forest, and we’re talking about Manchester United.’
The former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder concluded: ‘I would go for Adam Wharton ahead of him.’
Speaking to Sky Sports in October, Wharton made no secret of his ambitions to one day play on the grandest stages in the Champions League.
Asked if he had set himself any individual goals, the ex-Blackburn midfielder replied: ‘I’d say just play as many games as I can in the Premier League and try and reach the highest level possible.
‘Obviously there’s a World Cup in the summer. Everyone wants to play at the World Cup. You’d be stupid if you didn’t
‘Champions League, everyone, if you can play Champions League, you want to play Champions League.’
On the areas of his game he could work on, Wharton added: ‘I think I can improve at everything on the ball, off the ball, communication on the pitch, off the pitch.
‘So the list is endless for that.’
UNITED TOLD SIGN TONALI
Manchester United have been urged to consider swooping for Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Tonali has been a stalwart of Newcastle’s midfield in recent seasons since joining from AC Milan, and has really developed into a player that the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with in recent transfer windows.
Casemiro has already admitted that he will be leaving Manchester United when his current deal runs out at the end of the season, meaning that the Red Devils will need to delve into that transfer kitty and look to add another enforcer to the squad.
Now, amid speculation and despite the fact the January window has just closed, former United defender Danny Simpson has urged the Red Devils to join any potential bidding war for Tonali, particularly as they look to fill the void left by the departing Casemiro at the end of this season.
‘I think Tonali would work really well in that United midfield, Simpson told Metro via Meta Spins Casino. ‘I think he would complement Kobbie Mainoo really nicely, because he gets about the pitch so well.
‘Obviously, he’s been a top player for Newcastle. He’s good on the ball, he’s strong, he’s physical, he’d be a brilliant player in there in many regards.
‘Also, he’s the type of player that I think could wear a Man Utd shirt. It’s not easy, that, and I feel like he could wear it with the pressure and deal with it.
‘He could definitely slot in there.’

Manchester United need to get a permanent manager in before they can delve into that transfer kitty and sign players, but if they do manage to complete the signing of Tonali he will make a real difference to that United midfield.
He would cost around £100 million to buy, but if Manchester United wants to keep the clubs best players and show ambition, they need to sign stars like Tonali.
