Liverpool are among the clubs to be linked with the RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

A winger who has been linked with a move to Liverpool have made a major career decision.

Yan Diomande is enjoying a magnificent season at Red Bull Leipzig - in what is his maiden campaign in the Bundesliga. The 19-year-old has plundered eight goals and six assists in 21 appearances for Die Roten Bullen after joining from CD Leganes last summer.

Diomande is on a remarkable rise considering he was only playing high-school soccer in the USA two years ago. He represented Ivory Coast at the recent African Cup of Nations and reportedly has several of Europe’s top clubs tracking him.

Liverpool are said to be among those keen, as well as Premier League rivals Manchester United and German juggernauts Bayern Munich. It remains to be seen whether Diomande will leave Leipzig this summer after just one full campaign. However, it appears he’s putting the wheels in motion to prepare for a big move at some point.

Diomande has opted to change agents and sign with Roc Nation Sports. The firm, founded by rapper Jay-Z, represents Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, Napoli and former Manchester City playmaker Kev De Bruyne and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli among others.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé has signed today with Roc Nation Sports International as new agency. Important decision ahead of summer transfer window with several top clubs keen.”

Leipzig’s stance on Diomande’s future

Leipzig are a club whose model revolves around developing players and selling them for significant profit. In recent seasons, Liverpool have spent circa £150 million to purchase Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from the Saxony outfit. The clubs have an excellent working relationship.

But Red Bull chief Oliver Mintzlaff recently insisted that Leipzig are not looking to sell Diomande anytime soon.

“As chairman of the supervisory board, I would say he will definitely be with us next season – even if there were an offer of €80 or €90 million (£70-79 million). Speakig to Sky Sports Germany (via bullinews.com), Mintzlaff said: “As chairman of the supervisory board, I would say he will definitely be with us next season – even if there were an offer of €80 or €90 million (£70-79 million).

“You simply can’t let go of such a young player, whom we just signed, after only one year. He’s extremely young and playing his first Bundesliga season. We’ve worked to ensure that players can stay a bit longer.”

“The truth is that, while we are a very ambitious Bundesliga club, there are also other top clubs. In the past, we have repeatedly had to let good players go – partly to generate transfer revenue, and partly because they were ready to take the next step in their careers.”
