This weekend, England face Wales in the Six Nations. Lining up at full-back for Steve Tandy's Welsh side is Bristol Bears star Louis Rees-Zammit.
Whilst he'll be donning the red jersey on Saturday evening, there was a period when his international allegiance was up for grabs. Even Eddie Jones attempted to secure the Penarthian's services before he pledged his future to Wales, with subsequent banter on social media from former England fly-half Andy Goode and even Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.

Speaking to the BBC, Rees-Zammit disclosed in 2020 that he previously dated Alicia Scholes, Paul's daughter, and representing England became a recurring joke within the family. "I used to date his daughter, so it was a running joke," said the Bristol Bears flyer. "He always used to try to make me play for England, but I wasn't having any of it."
Since then, Rees-Zammit has toured with the British and Irish Lions, accumulated 35 Wales caps and even ventured into the NFL with Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs. Alicia represents the London Pulse netball team as well as the England national side. She is currently in a relationship with Love Island star Ayo Odukoya.
Beyond her sporting achievements, she has established herself as a social media personality, boasting just over 100,000 followers on Instagram. Rees-Zammit, 25, is a few months older than Alicia, who will turn 25 in May this year.

The Welsh flyer is currently in a relationship with American model and influencer Drew Knotts, who has relocated from Florida to live with him and his family in Wales.
Knotts is a regular presence at Bears and Wales matches supporting the winger and also attended Alexandra Palace to watch the World Darts Championship in December. The Welshman discussed her major relocation to Wales following his signing for Bears in summer 2025.
"I took her to the Wales v Ireland game for the Six Nations," the winger said when talking about Knotts. "She really enjoyed it. She doesn't have a clue what rugby is! When she saw that kind of environment, she really wanted to watch me play rugby. It's something I can give her now, I can allow her to learn rugby, she'll learn a lot from my family, the rules and the crowd.

"She's really looking forward to it. It's going to be a big change for her. She's moving permanently. Depending on visas and stuff, there's a lot to do with getting over to America and vice versa. I experienced that first-hand.
"But she's obviously doing the opposite to what I did. I went over there, lived there. But now she's coming back and living in Wales. So, from Florida to Wales! Well, depending on visas and stuff, there's a lot to do with getting over to America and vice versa.
