Scott Parker rules out free agent signings despite Burnley's quiet January

Scott Parker has ruled out the chances of Burnley dipping their toes into the free agent market.

While the January transfer window has now closed, clubs are still able to sign unattached players.

But despite a quiet month of business, which saw just James Ward-Prowse arrive, no further activity is anticipated until the season is done and dusted with.

When asked if the Clarets are in the market for any free agents, Parker told the Burnley Express: “No, we're done. We'll be done now until the summer.

“The window's shut, the group is the group and we're finished regarding that.”

Any potential move fell through at the last minute though, meaning the winger remains at Turf Moor until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is currently sidelined with an ankle issue he suffered against Newcastle United at the end of 2025, but is expected back in a few weeks’ time.

“He's coming on alright. He's on the grass now,” Parker said.

“Hopefully he's not too far away at this present moment in time. He's probably a few weeks away, he's only just gone onto the grass.

“He obviously needs to pick up and get up to speed, but he's heading in the right direction.”
