'Massive interest': Everton flat out rejected by £18m forward for Premier League rivals -…

Everton’s search for a new striker continues and will now take them into the summer transfer window.

David Moyes only saw one new signing come through the doors at Finch Farm over the winter market in the form of Tyrique George.

Fans are going to have to be patient again, with the search for another striker not turning out to be a quick process.

Everton were linked with Youssef En-Nesyri among a host of other names, but the club will wait until the summer to try their luck again.

Deadline day is now done… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬

It was a slow window for Everton, like it was for most Premier League clubs, but there was one striker on their radar that snubbed the Blues for a rival side.

Fulham are already keen to beat Everton to Ricardo Pepi ahead of the summer window opening back up.

It seems a lot of Premier League sides are wanting to bolster their front line.

“I mentioned Tammy Abraham. They liked him, I think you’ve just seen that come out in publications, I mentioned that probably two weeks ago,” he said.

“He made it very, very clear that he wanted Aston Villa and then Everton backed away. But he was a player of ‘massive interest’.”

Everton News reported Everton’s interest in Abraham around eight months ago, as the club considered their options in the summer.

However, when his former club came calling, there was only going to be one destination for the striker.

Tammy Abraham may have divided the Everton fans

Time will tell whether Abraham proves to be a hit in the Premier League, but he has spent a number of years away after his struggles.

Everton have put their faith in Thierno Barry and Beto, with the pair having shown slightly improved form of late.

Abraham played his first 90 minutes for Villa at the weekend in their shocking loss to a 10-man Brentford at home.

Of course, he will not be judged by his opening performance, but it may prove to be a bullet dodged by the Blues.

Villa spent £18m on Abraham and that is a good chunk of change that Everton have saved themselves to spend in the summer.
